Q: What is FrontPage?

What is FrontPage? FrontPage is a very popular web site development tool. It allows you to develop your site offline and easily transfer (upload) it our system.

Q: What versions of FrontPage do you support?

We support FrontPage 2000 and 98.

Q: How can I learn more on using FrontPage  to create my pages?

Microsoft has an excellent FrontPage website at:

http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/

Q: What are FrontPage server extensions and how do I use them?

FrontPage server extensions are files and directories that are needed by FrontPage for it to function properly. These files can be seen in your directory beginning with _vti. It is essential that you do not delete these directories, as FrontPage will not function properly without them.

Q: What do I do if I have deleted some of the directories?

Contact us and we will reapply the extensions.

Q: I have created my site using FrontPage, how do I get it on the web?

To publish your site using FrontPage  you need to click on the publish button. You will be prompted for the location to publish to which would be; http://www.yoursite.com. For example if your domain name is www.business.com you would publish to; http://www.business.com. Enter your user name and password when prompted and your site will be uploaded to your directory. *Your first web page MUST be named default.htm (default.asp if using Active
Server Pages). If you need a different first page name, please contact tech support.

Q: I have enabled my site, but when I click on publish I am prompted for the ftp server and directory path, what did I do wrong?

When you try to publish your FrontPage Web site you should not be prompted for the ftp server name and directory path. If you are then FrontPage has set ftp publish as the default and you will need to change it to be able to use FrontPage to its fullest capabilities. If you go to the file menu bar on FrontPage choose "Publish FrontPage web". If you are prompted, and you are not always, choose FrontPage as the publish method, not ftp, as your publishing method. You will then need to enter the location to publish to, http://www.yoursite.com, your user name and password.

Q: Where can I find more information on using FrontPage and the lastest version?

Visit www.microsoft.com/frontpage
